I moved back into my old apartment in New York City. I was going back to my old job. The first night I saw a mouse in the ceiling light walking around. I went to sleep on futon and woke up to a pinching on the bridge of my nose. When I opened my eyes all I could see was black and when I touched my nose I could feel a beak biting me. It was a raven attacking me. There was a second raven with it. I had to struggle to get the raven off my nose and out the door. I called the landlord about the mouse and the ravens. I then went to a friends apartment and told them about what happened. And there were two of my friends from grad school.
Dreams can be highly personal and often reflect our subconscious feelings, experiences, and concerns. Here's a possible interpretation of your dream, considering common themes and symbols:
Returning to the Old Apartment and Job: Moving back to a familiar space and job might symbolize a desire for comfort or a sense of nostalgia. It could indicate feelings of being overwhelmed by your current situation or wishing to return to a simpler time when you felt more secure.
Mouse in the Ceiling Light: Mice can represent small worries or annoyances. Seeing it in the light suggests that these concerns are being highlighted, and perhaps they are issues that you are trying to avoid or overlook.
Waking Up to a Raven Attack: Ravens are often associated with mystery, intelligence, and sometimes darker symbolism related to fear or change. The attack could signify that there are unresolved issues or fears in your waking life that you are grappling with. The sensation of being pinched on the nose might represent feeling stifled or unable to express your voice or opinions.
Struggling to Get the Raven Off: This struggle suggests an inner conflict. It might imply that you are wrestling with negative thoughts or experiences that you need to confront in order to find peace.
Calling the Landlord: Reaching out for help indicates a desire for support or assistance in dealing with the challenges you're facing. It also shows a recognition that you cannot handle everything alone.
Telling Friends About the Experience: Sharing your experience with friends, particularly those from grad school, symbolizes seeking validation, support, and connection. It reflects the importance of community and friendship in navigating personal challenges.
Overall, this dream may be reflecting feelings of anxiety, unresolved issues from your past, and a quest for support and understanding as you face current fears or challenges. It could be urging you to address these matters rather than letting them linger or escalate. Consider reflecting on your current life situation and any past experiences that may be resurfacing as you navigate this transition.
